Mulberry and Paul Smith Join Forces for an Irresistible Collection of Bags

In a remarkable collaboration of iconic British heritage brands, Paul Smith and Mulberry have unveiled a 10-piece unisex bag capsule collection that promises to be the next must-have accessory. This partnership brings together Paul Smith’s love for stripes and colour with Mulberry’s distinctive DNA, resulting in a collection that made its debut at Smith’s autumn/winter 2023 show in Paris.

The collection features a reinterpretation of Mulberry’s bestselling Antony bag, alongside two brand-new silhouettes, the Antony Clip (a mini cross-body bag) and Antony Tote. Designed for practical yet chic everyday use, the bags are divided into two categories.

The first group of Antony bags boasts black heavy-grain leather, Paul Smith’s signature stripe webbing straps, co-branded hardware, and a vibrant interior – a nod to those who prefer understated elegance.

For those with an affinity for bold colors, the second group of Antony bags is a standout choice. Crafted from buttery-soft leather with a color-block exterior in striking shades like royal blue, zesty orange, baby blue, and chocolate brown, these bags feature dual-color leather straps and Mulberry’s signature Postman’s Lock hardware. They represent a fusion of British creativity and traditional craftsmanship, in line with the expectations set by this prestigious collaboration.

Sir Paul Smith reflects on the synergy between the two brands, noting, “Paul Smith and Mulberry were founded within a year of each other in the 1970s, so you could say our brands grew up and came of age together.” This shared history, British identity, and similar approach to creativity and craftsmanship contributed to the success of their collaboration.

The commitment to sustainability shines through in this collection. All pieces were produced at Mulberry’s carbon-neutral factories in Somerset, emphasizing their dedication to UK manufacturing. Over half of Mulberry’s collections are still produced in the UK, aligning with Paul Smith’s “Path to Sustainability” manifesto and Mulberry’s “Made to Last” ethos.

Moreover, each bag is made from carbon-neutral leather, a practice implemented across all Mulberry bags since 2022 through offsetting with the World Land Trust. The leather is sourced from tanneries certified with the highest Gold standard by the Leather Working Group for their exceptional environmental performance.

In summary, the Paul Smith and Mulberry collaboration presents a collection of unisex, stylish, and environmentally friendly bags, showcasing the rich heritage and commitment to sustainability that both brands represent. It’s a partnership that reflects British creativity and craftsmanship at its finest.
