The innovation is an easy-to-use, re-usable box flap closure that helps create sustainable packaging by making boxes re-usable many times over, particularly as the packaging is not damaged by the use of single-use tape or staples for closure purposes.
By integrating the product into their supply chain, operations and supply chain managers are able to reduce material costs (packaging and closure expenses) substantially. The longer term benefits of Box Latch are enabling companies to reach their waste reduction targets, improve supply chain sustainability and create leaner manufacturing, reduced PRNs, all with an innovative, low technology solution.
Provided in black with other colours available on request, the re-usable closures come in three sizes and are made from 100% recycled plastic and are fully recyclable – bio or compostable alternatives are also available. Other products in the range include ‘Clip and Stack’ corner clips, which hold the flaps of boxes open, thereby facilitating easy access for filling.
Item Products’ managing director, Julian Cook, said: “Box Latch products provide a clear match to our brand’s ethos and, in line with our own product range, they offer functionality and re-usability. With box re-use, manufacturing, distribution and storage facilities are better able to reduce their operational costs and generate benefits for their people, our planet and their profit margins.”
