About OPRL
OPRL is not-for-profit organisation created to help consumers recycle more. We support brands and retailers, as well as packaging manufacturers and supplies, with expertise and guidance on recyclability so that they can determine the correct recycling label for their packaging. Helping consumers know what to do with packaging at the point of disposal and enabling our members to adhere to Extended Producer Responsibility for packaging (pEPR) legislation.
Independent research shows that 3 in 4 consumers recognise and act on our labels, which is why, in part our labels have been used as a basis for pEPR.

Our team provide recycling expertise to members helping them understand the complexities of packaging recycling and packaging reforms.
Our toolstack gives 24/7 support for the creation of labels our members need and new tools are being developed to provide support for packaging recyclability at the point of design.
Our connections give us the opportunity to provide our members with the most up to date information which support our labels and gives them support on legislation requirements.

About membership
Once you become a member, we issue you with log in details for our Members’ Area of the website.
In the Members’ Area you’ll find the Rules for using the labels covering any restrictions and detail of which labels should be used for each packaging material and format. You’ll also find the OPRL artwork labelling tool which will generate and create the correct labels for your packaging, where you are able to download and use straight away.
Our membership charges are annual and based on your turnover and are split into groups to cover the different types of organisations.
Our membership fees are annual and based on your turnover:
Under £2m – £595 + VAT
£2m – £10m – £995 + VAT
£10m – £35m – £1,800 + VAT
£35m -100m – £3,500 + VAT
Over £100m – £5,000 + VAT
To join the OPRL scheme, simply fill in the member registration form on our website, and select the category best suited to your business .
Once we have your registration, we will send out an invoice and once payment has been received, we will give you access to our Members’ Area.
